We met three times this month, two Halll meetings and a smaller Group attending the Remembrance Sunday commemoration at Rochester Cathedral followed by lunch.
Beetle Drive
Our first meeting was on Monday 1st November which was a delayed October meeting. We held a Beetle drive and forty of our Members enjoyed the competition. The winners of the winning team each won a £10 garden voucher. The Champions of the Beetle Drive were Mick & Jeanne seen below:

After we had our tea & biscuit break (courtesy of our Tea Ladies – Sybil, Ann & Joan) above, Doug ran his enjoyable Mini Music Quiz which entertained us all. There was one clear winner which was Terry seen here, above, receiving his prize from Doug which was a “Free Bet” Voucher for our Duck Race in February next year.
Remembrance Sunday
Twenty-eight of us attended the Remembrance Service at Rochester Cathedral and Maurice was honoured to lay the wreath at the Cenotaph Memorial outside the Cathedral, see below:

Quiz
Our third meeting this month took place on the afternoon of Monday 22nd where our grey cells had an excellent work out courtesy of Terry, one of our Members. There were over forty of us who enjoyed the afternoon tackling different Quiz questions taking us through history, geography, science, technology recognition of faces, general knowledge and what a great afternoon it was! Halfway through we enjoyed a buffet which Sybil had laid out together with Tea & Coffee. Seems the Buffet went down well too, as there was hardly any food left at the end There was a real buzz in Hall the whole afternoon!
The Members received next year’s Programme as well as a flyer for the Xmas Entertainment afternoon and New Year’s lunch. Below is a selection of images from the afternoon:

We also had two Guests joined our afternoon to find out what we are about. Val & Paul, who had met Carole (Member) in a Garden Centre the previous week and Carole mentioned our Association to them which interested them enough to join us for this afternoon’s meeting. They seemed to enjoy themselves and hopefully we will have gained two new Members, fingers crossed!
Annual Dinner
On Saturday 16th October we held a much less formal Annual Dinner at the Rivers Restaurant, Upchurch Golf Club.
Forty-eight Members attended and it was clear everybody was in good spirits. They all quickly settled down and started mulling over the past eighteen months. The chatter went on right through the evening and there was a positive buzz in the air!Whilst we did not have an Entertainer this time, it was clear from the atmosphere and chatter everybody was too busy catching up to have missed this. We also were able to sing “Happy birthday” to our birthday girl, Carole, whose birthday was on the day and presented her with a bouquet of flowers in celebration!
The dinner was up to the Rivers Restaurant’s normal standard, and everybody tucked in and enjoyed their meals. The Waitresses’ service was once again first class with each of the six tables being well looked after!
Sheila and Joan, welcome to Joan who is one of our new Members, ran the Raffle for the evening and the raffle made over £80 because all participated generously!
Below are some images from the evening, some of which were taken by Jean whom we thank for helping with making this record:

We're back ...
It was eighteen months ago since we held our previous meeting and we have now changed the day and timing of our monthly meetings. The meeting on 20th September was held at our new venue of Beechen Hall and was for the afternoon instead of the evening. We enjoyed a good crowd turning up for a complimentary Cream Tea and a good catch-up chat. Everyone said the new Hall was a great improvement on our previous venue being larger, more modern, and good Car Parking facilities. Changing to afternoon meetings received a resounding approval too.
Our thanks go to Sheila for running our usual raffle which netted circa £80.00, thank you and well done to all the Members for participating!
Everybody was able to mingle, catch up on the past eighteen months then enjoy a tasty Cream Tea, all in all a good afternoon was had by all!
Below are a few photographs kindly taken by Jean, again a big thanks to Jean for recording the meeting:
